South Ogden City Utah is within Weber County. South Ogden homes are bordered on the north and east by Ogden City, on the south by Uintah, and on the west by Riverdale and Washington Terrace. South Ogden City is about four square miles of homes and property that would be on the Utah Listings if listed.
This area just to the South of Ogden was settled by pioneers. Daniel Burch and his company arrived Ogden in 1848 only to find that there were few South Ogden Homes. Long before the Utah Listing existed, the area was named Burch Creek in 1850 in his honor. In 1852 the Weber Canal was built and Burch built a gristmill near the source of the river in a place today known as Riverdale Utah
In 1890 extensive investments in land, both residential and commercial, took place. Now the city is home to about 15,000 residents that work all over the Wasatch Front
Burch Creek Elementary was built in 1897 by some of those early settlers. It was the first school in the South Ogden city area and was considered one of the most awesome in the state
In the 1930s Burch Creek was a farming town. The petition was granted and on 6 July 1936 the town of South Ogden was established.
South Ogden's close location to Hill Air Force Base and the Ogden Arsenal led to a housing boom in the 1940s. By 1946 the population exceeded 3,600, and South Ogden became known as the "City of Homes." The largest growth for the city came in the 1950s, at which time it grew by 150 percent. Because of this new growth, a new municipal building was constructed. The building also housed a fire station, and a new 1953 fire truck was purchased. Washington Boulevard was widened to four lanes south of 40th Street.
South Ogden City is now home to, residential developments a Country Club, Businesses, schools, churches, fire and police departments. Today, South Ogden boasts a comfortable balance of residential areas and business districts. Jennifer Bunker is now in the planning commission in South Ogden City selected by Mayor Garwood.
